I first seen Scarlett Johansson in the film The Other Boleyn Girl, in which I thought she played her role of the obedient, second child perfectly. I consider her one of my favourite actresses; having seen her play a variety of characters, I am convinced of her talent and beauty. But this was not the start of her acting career.

Scarlett Johansson’s debut appearance was in the film North, in 1994 and this was followed by her roles in Manny and Lo, in 1996 and The Horse Whisperer, in 1998. Some of the films she is most credited for are Girl With The Pearl Earring, The Prestige, The Other Boleyn Girl and Iron Man 2.

She was born in 1984 in New York, making her just ten years old when she acted in North. From that point on, it’s been a steady incline to her present standing of fame and popularity. Even though she is best known for her film roles, Scarlett Johansson has also worked in Theatre and has been released as a vocalist.

Her part in the Broadway play Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge earned her the Tony award for Best Performance By A Featured Actress In A Play.

She has also been nominated for a series of Golden Globe awards, including Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, although she’s never made the cut, but if she carries on as she is, I don’t suppose it’ll be long.

As a vocalist she has released two albums: her first, Anywhere I Lay My Head, in 2008 and her second, Breakup, which was recorded with Pete Yorn, was released in 2009. I have to say that I enjoyed both these albums, all be it the second more so than the first.

All in all, I would say that Scarlett Johansson is a talented woman and I look forward to her further work, whatever that may be.

I’m not going to tolerate being labeled a “hipster” here, but it’s totally true when I say that I have been into zombies since way before they were cool. In fact, I was into Romero zombies when it was getting me made fun of in school. That’s alright, because I’m still a zombie t-shirts-wearing freak to this day. Now that the new season of “The Walking Dead” has started, I see that there are tons of fans out there who are storming the gates in excitement for zombies. I couldn’t be happier, to be honest. “The Walking Dead” deserves each and every squeal of excitement it gets.

The comic book was originally created by a master wordsmith by the name of Robert Kirkman. His talents are so good, that he’s actually responsible for bringing the Image publishing company back from the brink of death with his contributions. It’s someone funny that it took the undead to breathe life back into Image. When working on the show, Kirkman has remained fully involved in the creation process. He’s joined by Frank Darabont of “The Shawshank Redemption” acclaim, who is known for creating film full of very deep characters. One of my favorite zombie t-shirts features these two awesome individuals drawn as zombies.

Another thing that adds to the incredible depth of the characters is the superb acting by the cast. The characters can be as richly written and directed as you like, but it takes skill and charisma as an actor to flesh those words out into a three-dimensional being. Andrew Lincoln brings the character of Rick Grimes into stark reality. His emotions are fully bare as he stoically leads a group of survivors across a wasted landscape, taking the responsibility of many people’s lives all upon his own weary shoulders. Jon Bernthal also gives a noted performance as Rick’s sketchy best friend, Shane. I would buy zombie t-shirts featuring any of this guys in a heartbeat.

What was most exciting for me, is that the show has completely changed many things from the television show. They have added lots of new characters, I suspect so that they can raise the mortality rate…despite the fact that Kirkman has repeatedly made it apparent that no one is safe in the comic. Many purists will be mad about how much the show and the comic are different, but I don’t count myself amongst those ranks. I like the fact that this story is a bit changed, because there are going to be shocks for me down the road that I haven’t been expecting.

As much as I loved the first season of the television adaptation of “The Walking Dead”, the second season looks like it’s going to be even more jaw-dropping than the first. The characters have been fleshed out and there are some that you hate and some that you love, but they are all developed so much that you’re able to definitely understand them and their motivations. I don’t know where the show will be going and what twists they’re going to take us down, but I can’t wait to find out! I’ll be perched on the edge of my seat, knuckles white, and with my zombie t-shirts on!
